And that last guy was out of his mind.
There are no solutions here which can remove all of these things.
Granted the preventative method of not using IE works, but this is accepting defeat!
Having said that, I have been battling this trojan for several days, and I am running out of options. I had already tried just about everything in this thread and nothing has worked.
I would add that HijackThis is also very effective at locating the dlls which alter the affected registry keys - but the damnnable exectuable itself is so well hidden no antivirus I have tried yet had been able to find it.
If IE wasn't so tightly intergrated with windows I wouldn't bother... Damn Microsoft!
Any other ideas people? I'm willing to try a reformat soon also - I hate the idea of being forced off my browser... and I can't STAND the idea of the little bastard sitting on my hard drive!
Is there any way to track access to the registry from programs as they occur? With such a tool one could easily isolate the root program.
