Don't want to appear a killjoy, but just tried Trojan Hunter and it found not a sausage on my machine (boo-hoo!) So either it doesn't always work, or one of the manual things I did late yesterday coincidentally cleared it. Alternatively (and unfortunately this is what I suspect) all the 'solutions' so far have only been clearing the files DROPPED by the Trojan, not the source itself, thus the fact that it seems to respawn after you think it's gone. I think the virus/trojan finder software only finds these files if they happen to have appeared at the time of the scan. As they come and go (I've literally seen them disappear from Explorer while I've been looking at the listing), I suspect much depends on the timing of the virus checker run. But whether anyone has yet identified what is actually spawning the files....?
I'm also unclear on what caused the thing in the first place, as I don't run downloaded executables, have up-to-date firewall and McAfee protection. However, the same day the virus appeared (4/4), I had downloaded an automatic software version update to my BT Yahoo browser (ybrowser.exe + associated supporting packages), which refused to work after installation. It was when investigating that that the virus turned up. My ISP (surprise surprise) insists that this is coincidence and that all software is tested, etc. etc. but they would say that, wouldn't they! Interested if anyone else has any ideas on the subject.
